March 19, 2019 - Basf, together with its partners, launched a project in remote areas of Guangxi aimed at improving the cleanliness of sanitation facilities such as garbage bins, garbage trucks and garbage transfer stations. The project includes a newly developed clean solution, with relevant training and education programs, and donations to local schools. Combining business operations with social effects, such projects are called "social enterprise projects".
The social enterprise project named "Protecting Green Water and Green Mountains, Creating a Better Life" will be implemented in Duan Yao Autonomous County, Guangxi. With a total investment of 750,000 euros, the project aims to improve waste disposal conditions, provide support to low-income residents and contribute to China's national strategy of "rural revitalization".
Dr. Zheng Daqing, Senior Vice President of Business and Market Development of BASF Greater China, said: "By integrating chemical innovation with social participation activities, BASF is committed to solving current and future social challenges. This is one of the first social enterprise projects we launched in China, demonstrating that BASF promotes innovation by using a wide range of product portfolios, combining social effects and business values.
The local sanitation and cleaning service company in Duan Yao Autonomous County has been seeking better solutions for waste transportation and disposal facilities. BASF combines its expertise in intermediates, nursing chemicals and surface technology processing to develop a new clean solution with partners. The scheme is more efficient, cleaner and consumes less natural resources, especially water resources. In addition, the scheme can also reduce the corrosion of sanitation facilities without any negative impact on the environment.
Wang Minyan, chairman of China Washing Products Industry Association, said: "The new cleaning scheme based on BASF's professional knowledge effectively solves the challenges faced by sanitation cleaners in their daily work. It also helps the sustainable innovation of sanitation industry and contributes to the construction of"beautiful China".
BASF has provided relevant technical knowledge for Guangxi Zhongtian Shengxiang City Investment Service Co., Ltd. and tailored training and education programs for local sanitation cleaners to help them better understand the scientific process of how to clean sanitation facilities.
Blue Sky Star, chairman of Guangxi Zhongtian Shengxiang City Investment Service Co., Ltd., said: "With the professional knowledge and strong support of BASF, sanitation cleaners will work more efficiently. At the same time, the service life of sanitation facilities has been extended.
Basf also donated hand sanitizer and a complete water purification system to the senior high school of Duan Guangxi Yao Autonomous County. These donations are based on Basf's chemical innovations, providing more reliable and healthy direct drinking water for about 5,600 students and teachers in Rio, improving overall sanitation conditions and raising their awareness of the importance of water resources protection.
